    Semi sort of "official" OnOne thread
    OK, you Inbreds, Gimps, Pompinos, 456s, Scandals and all other OnOne-ians, let's get a semi-official thread dedicated to OnOne started here! I'm the proud owner of a 29'er singlespeed Inbred, and I'm in the process of building a 26'er singlespeed Inbred. Does that make me twice the Inbred? (Funny, but I don't think my parents are related, but my family "tree" looks like a straight line....)

    Here's a shot of my 29'er Inbred, and a gratuitous SS race shot. Shot of the blingy 26'er to come when it is due for completion next week!

    Nice. I'm sort of planning/dreaming/hoping etc. of gettin' my hands on an Inbred one of these days. I was thinking about the 456, but I dunno....I'm more of a classic XC sorta guy I guess.

    Just curious - why going back to the 26er?

    Not really "going back to" a 26'er since I'm keeping the 29'er. I have a 26'er hardtail with some nice parts on it that would make a very nice singlespeed Inbred!

    sweet ride, i'm hoping to get into one this winter (the 29'er version), they are very hard to come by in canada.

    here's hoping brant reads this thread, and explains to me when on-one is gonna make a high sweep bar (mary!?) that's burly enough for DH...

    Sitting in front of my 1x9 Instigator trail beasty (run Egg Beaters unless at the pump track).

    Planning to build this up as my winter bike...3.0 nokian gazzalodi's, Single Speed, the fork off the surly. Would like to find a nice rigid fork and use it for my park bike as well. We'll see.

    posted in the AM forum too. Probably doesn't get ridden enough. I'm sure when winter comes around and its wet it'll get more use along w/the SS.

    I'm thinking about trading my Surly Instigator for a 456 frame. There seems to be about a 2 pound difference. The Instigator is a horse to ride as a singlespeed (my current setup).

    I know it seems odd considering On-one has so many singlespeed frames but I have been thinking about building up a 456 as a singlespeed with a converter. Has anyone done this? How does it ride?

    Indeed, adding the 456 Inbred geared frame as my SS (ooops) to my bike collection was a best thing to do. Also own Chameleon and Heckler for AM and Freeride.

    oh...it's not bad. just kinda seems like the 'color of the moment'. kinda like pink seems to be for crossbikes or city bikes...what-have-you. your bike looks awesome and i'm sure it rides great.

    the blue won't keep me from buying one. but i guess i'm just happy with plain 'ol silver or grey myself.

    Oh well, I guess when you own few bikes, your taste for the color changes so you choose such color might not choose if it was your only bike.

    That's a 26in one with a zinc plate finish (done by one of our riders in the UK, not an option currently).

    Both the 26in and 29in bikes and frames will be disc only. It was cheaper and this one was all about price point :-).

    do you have a ballpark estimate on 26" frame price in the U.S.? Are you able to run a QR rear wheel and get enough chain tension without slipping? What's the ETA, I can't wait!

    Geared 29'er Inbred
    Converted both the 29'er Inbred (and the 26'er Inbred) pictured above to gears. No new shot of the 26'er, but here's the 29'er in geared dress. My conclusion is that, due to weight, the Inbred just seems to work better as a SS rather than a gearie, so.....

    I just picked up a ScandAL frame, which will take the place of the 29'er Inbred frame as the geared 29'er in the arsenal. The Inbred 29'er will then be converted back to a SS.

    One can never have too many bikes, especially from On-One!!

    Not pink, but RED. Just yesterday I put a 25% deposit down on a nice new shiny red 18" 456. I was told the frame should be here in about 2 weeks, since there are no 456 frames in the US right now. At least, that's what Zedsport says.

    anyone riding their 456's aggresively. i'm liking them cause - steel, price and geometry but i want something that can be used for small-medium jumps drops and basicaly used for AM riding. i know the chameleon and stifee can be used on dirt parks and 4x. how much can the 456 handle since it can run a long travel fork?

    I ride my 456 as a singlespeed all mountain bike with a six inch fork in the front. It might just be the perfect all mountain hardtail. I have thrown it off jumps and drops up to about 4 feet without any problems at all.

    I bought the On-One to replace a Surly Instigator. The Surly was a great bike but a bit to beefy to ride as a singlespeed on longer rides. The 456 feels every bit as strong and as stiff as the Surly (a dedicated freeride bike). I don't hesitate to take the 456 of drops and hammer downhills. Its a solid ride. Beefy enough to take what you can throw at it, but light enough to take on long rides without collapsing.

    I am sure you could press the 456 into service as a 4X bike or maybe some minor dirt jumping. If you want a dedicated DH or DJ hardtail though, I would look elsewhere. But if you want a solid AM, light FR hardtail, I think the 456 is one of the best out there.

    Plus On-One is a great company.

    As soon as funds allow i am going to buy a 456 and at £149.00 in the UK i just can't let that opportunity pass.I have the standard Inbred and love it but what i want to do is run an Instigator fork on the 456 with a singlespeed kit(tensioner) and have a burly singlespeed that can take some abuse from time to time.Plus it comes in red at the mo and i love red bikes!!!

    Thought I'd give this thread a small bump...

    I just finished building up my 456 frame this morning. Took her for a ride this arvo. She is incredibly fast, and comfier than I was expecting. Much faster on flowy singletrack than my Heckler, although I had a few moments when I forgot that I didn't have five inches in the rear anymore!

    I built her up on a bit of a budget using some spare drivetrain parts and controls. The frame, wheels and brakes are new (XC717s on XT hubs, Juicy 3s) as is the fork (RS Revelation 426 dual airs)

    She's a 1x9 at the moment simply because I didn't have a spare front derailleur or shifter. But the 32 toother up front feels spot on - I think I'll leave it as is. I think this is as close to a singlespeed as I'll ever get!

    I treated myself to a 456 frame for my birthday. Can't wait to get it built up, but I can't decide what forks to get. Either Revelations or Pikes...? Want it to be an XC/AM bike, lighter than my '06 Enduro hopefully...

    I was considering Revelations or Pikes when I built mine. I ended up going for the Revelations as they were lighter (3-400g) and I only weigh 140lbs so figured I didn't really need a through axle on my xc bike. I also have a Heckler with a 20mm Z1 for burlier riding.

    Im leaning more towards the Pike due to the higer A-C measurement, and the slacker head angle that would give. With the Revelation I think it comes out around 69.5 degrees, whereas the Pike would be around 68.5/69. Am I likely to notice that difference though?

    I'm thinking it's a bit academic really. The Pike has an A-C length of 518mm afaik, the Revelation is 508mm. You'd run less sag on the Revelation as it is a little shorter in travel - say a difference in A-C height of 7mm when sagged (3mm = 30% of sag difference.) 7mm is like a 0.25 degree change in head angle based on the old rule of 1" = 1 degree. I wonder what the manufacturing tolerances are on frame angles!

    I really think that the key thing to consider is the low weight of the Revs vs the stiffness of the Pikes. FWIW, I find that the Revs are stiff enough for the xc/trail riding that I normally do and had no dramas picking lines through techy bits.

    If you're concerned about flex and the front end being a little steep and don't mind a bit of extra weight, then the Pikes sound like what you're after.

    The alternative would be to get a Rev with a tall headset I suppose!

    I was starting to come to that conclusion myself. The Rev is £100 cheaper, and 1/2lb lighter then the Pike - I think I'd have more chance of noticing both of those over half a degree of head angle! Im not concerned with the stiffness, as theres plenty of 4X racers using the Rev. If its good enough for them...

    IIRC onOne just releases new products are they are designed/produced... I don't remember a "fanfare launch" at the big shows before...

    I did run it with a 80mm syncros stem and loved the handling :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

    My Inbred 456
    Built this up over the winter and finally have been getting some nice ride time on it.
    This bike is so much fun. It's so gratifying to build something up from scratch and have it turn out exactly as you envisioned it. The 456 frame was exactly what I was looking for for this build. Wasn't initially too thrilled about ordering a baby blue frame, but once I got it built up, I liked it.

    It took me a loooooong time to find that (hard to catch your own mistakes). Good catch. I fixed it (nice to be able to edit posts). I own a couple forks from each so that's the excuse I'm going with.

    Goodbye beautiful frame
    Only few days before receiving my new custom 29er frame. I just had to devote this post to my beloved 456 frame of which I used for almost two years for both single speed and gears. Fair well for another great frame:thumbsup:
