    Schwinn Straight 6

The carbon fiber swing arm seems to be delaminating around the left main pivot. it looks like a layer of the top coat is peeling away. Does anybody know if this is just cosmetic or does it look like the swing arm needs to be replaced. - thanks

    Keep on the lookout

99% of composite parts have a cosmetic layer on them, so it's not crucial to the overall strength of the swingarm. However, pay close, close attention to the layers underneath. Once the top goes, its much easier for the layers underneath to delam, especially at a high stress area like that. You can probably get away with it for a while yet if you don't wanna fling the cash. But watch it carefully!

    Happy Trails!

Thanks for the info. i was looking for an excuse to build a new bike anyway. i'll keep an eye on it like you say and will hopefully get a new frame within the next few months. think i'll try a blur or something a little lighter than the straight 6 this time.
