When I bought it, it was one of only 2 in the US...don't know if there are more now or not.

Peyto Cycles "Wild Bill" frame, Pike Team fork, assorted other stuff. 28# of do it all, ride anywhere, steel love. Reynolds 853 front triangle, Columbus something or other rear. (wasn't custom for me; bought it off the builder for about half his custom price. it was *exactly* what i wanted in terms of size/geometry/beefyness.)

    I love this bike.

    Just completed

I just finished building this the other night and took it out on the trail for the first time today. There is a noticeably softer ride on steel than aluminum, at least in my opinion. I don't ever want to go back

I know what you mean. I love the bike. It has been killing my left knee though. My geared bike doesn't give me the same problem, only the SS. It's kind of bittersweet because I LOVE singlespeeding. I don't think my knees can take it though!

Heres my contribution, my Pipedream Sirius. Steel hardtails are big in the UK at the moment, the particular circle of biking mates im in are buying various 'do it all' steel hardtails that can take up to 4/5/6 inch forks without the chopper ride -

I still dont know much about Pipedream as a company, but my frame rides nicely

SS is not for me as well for the same reasons as you, but nothing can beat the look of great SS.
but this way or another this Pereira rocks.

I agree. The Paragons are a little funky looking, but man are they easy to adjust. I adjusted the chain tension once and I think it took like 5 minutes...if that. They are not as aesthetically pleasing as a standard dropout, but they really are an elegant solution.

I beginning to think that SS is not what my bones were meant for. I really do enjoy SS'ing, but the geared doesn't give the same issues. We'll see...

    My Indy fab xmas!

Finally built this up after a while of waiting for money and parts to arrive. I am the second owner, but the first guy must have had this frame on display. Absolutly beautiful. The wheels were meant for another bike, but it went bye bye, so they will work with this.

Full XTR with SRAM chain and Cassette
    Fox Fx100
King hubs on 819, and headset

Thompson goodies....well you can see the rest.

    keep it real

    here are my steel bikes.

i've upgraded the sycip a bit. noir cranks and white sid. the spot has since received a carbon med cage x.o rear der.

my next bike was to be a 26" ti mtb... but having ridden a 29er it has thrown a wrench in those plans. i'm getting a waltworks built up and when i decide what i'm doing, 26 or 29, i'm going IF ti.

You are unfamilair with PACE forks..... they have (nearly) always had rear facing V-brake studs. It improves the brakaing. :-) and yes swap the pads or use Avid ultimates....

on the RC31's (RIGIDS) you can run them forwards or rearwards.

    ah....yep unfamiliar.

how many times per ride do you get stopped and told your fork is backwards? i'd probably just tell folks your stem spun around on a rock and you like it better that way....

My new ride Im going to sell my tibolt for.
Although it is build up only for testriding a few weeks to get friendly with it, it is gorgeous.

The old waterford is the first really top end steelframe I own and can ride regulary. It is true. Steel can be compliant and stiff. This one is far more compliant than the Rocky Tibolt it has to replace. And first of all these lugs everywhere are f***ing beautiful.

Itll set up with 2x8 Sspeed a matching slightly shorter steel stem and hopefully an old steel seatpost (xtr) to replace the underdimensioned towsen/spicer/xacd

Have a look at this freaking paintjob. A dark green wich flips over to purple the more sunlight it catches.

    revolution

here's some pics of my recent build. its a hand made 853 steel frame that i've been riding for a few years. the paint got pretty beat up so i had it media blasted and I repainted it with some soviet inspired graphics I worked up with some help from iStockphoto. the color is from a '53 ford. the old school noleen forks reminded me of something soviet designed so I used it as a theme. its actually only 24lbs and some change. the forks are very rigid and perform wonderfully. I wish they were still made.

Thanks for the inspiration. My hardtail has been collecting dust for about 2 years. It may be time to bring it out of retirement. Might just make it a single speed. Sounds like a good idea. THANKS.....

Here's my 2002 Bianchi Denali, which has served me very well over the last year. Solid frame and the classic look really is cool. Very forgiving ride but it handles great! I may well sell it soon, so check eBay or PM me.

    This is my Kelly DeLuxe.

I don't see many of them around. It doesn't get used as much as it should as I'm in FL and spend most rides on my SS. It comes out on the weekend when I have time to drive to some "hills".

You've got a friend in me!

If you need a street team, count me in! I'll be happy to talk the bikes up! Mine has been everything I hoped for and more. I've ridden mine in the high Wasatch mountains, at ski resorts, and in Moab and Fruita, and loved it in all those situations.

    Ritchey WCS tubed Merlin Cycles

Merlin Cycles are a Lancashire, UK bike shop who still sell Rock Lobster Bikes and had these as thier frames made to a Paul Sadoff design. It's got Ritchey's WCS tubing and investment cast rear dropouts just a shame there are no rear disc mounts but I rarely use the back brake. I am 220lbs so the 8" Hayes on the front helps me to slow down when i feel I need to (can't believe I used to ride with old cantilevers and thought they were good brakes)

Do people think you are strange??

    Do you??

....Then you may be on the right track.

    Here's my 2008 Orange P7 custom build!

Haven't had time to ride singletrack yet, but I bet it will be different and hopefully refreshing after riding a Stumpy FSR for 4 years...

    Frame size 19"
    Revelation Air 426 U-turn
    FSA Orbit II Xl Headset
    Dt240s / XC717 Disc wheelset, RWS thru-axle front
    Juicy 7 with Hope rotors
    S-works carbon bars
Thomson stem and noname seatpost (soon to be Thomson too)
Some old crap saddle stripped and covered with an old leather jacket
Drivetrain is mix of XT, X.9 and X.0
    XTR pedas
Nokian NBX 2.3" folding, Conti Supersonic tubes

Weight 26.5 lb as in the pic, more than my Stumpy FSR with the same parts!

That frame alone has to be 2200g. Then there's the fork. And tyres.

You could lose 3lbs just by swapping those bits out.

I have a pair of Speed King Supersonics, but I really like the NBX more. They're 650g each.

I'm kind of over the whole weight-weenie thing, that's why I chose steel. I ride my 18.5lb cyclocross bike want a lightweight ride...

    My '04 Interloc Tempest

Here's my '04 Interloc Tempest. 853 Reynolds frame, 2x9 rigid. It's currently a 44/32 up front but going down to a 36/24 cuz my legs and lungs need lower gearing in the mountains.

Where are the other Interlocs at?

The PB lights are just for riding her around town at night.

Upgraded my Patrick 26er - new fork and new brown Chris King headset; looks great. Greg Gardner is a great guy, makes a beautiful bike.

    '98 Sunn Revolt

Here's my '98 Sunn Revolt with Fuji SL tubing.

The original Sunn Obsys fork gave up the ghost a season after I bought it. The top tube decal is getting a little ragged and needs a replacement. Dunno why Sunn did their bikes with thicker stick on decals instead of the clear coated thinner ones that are common.

Wow, this has been a walk down memory lane, not only with the photos of older rides, but the links to Mountain Goat (I remember a particular Deluxe that was black in the rear and dripped into hot pink at the front end) and the MOMBAT. Brings back my early days of riding and racing all over SoCal. I'm going to have to take a photo of my only remaining old bike. It needs to be cleaned up, repainted, and some parts replaced, but I will never part with it. It's a 1990 Gecko Genesis, IRD rigid fork, Grafton brakes, Cook Bros cranks, Bullseye hubs, American Bicycles stem, and probably a few other 15-20 year old parts I'm forgetting right now.

I wish I still had my '88 neon pink Wicked Fat Chance with Yeti fork!!! Why oh why did I get rid of that bike???? Oh yeah, I was a dumb 20 year old lusting for new bike stuff and thinking it didn't quite fit me right. . .

I also wish my friend hadn't sold his '88 Yeti FRO! Damn that was a kickass bike.

Put this together last summer. Metal guru medium frame, loving it. I was worried about going 1x9 and shouldn't have been. No regrets and a great ride.
