Paul shifters and the new Zion

I've had a few rides on this bike now and I have to say (especially for the price) that it is pretty sweet. Not as supple as my friend's El Mariachi, but not bad by any means. I also have a Karate Monkey, so the bike is set up very similar, including the KM fork (with props to Mike at the LBS). My biggest surprise is in the Paul shifters. I have been riding since 1990 and my first real bike was a steel Stumpjumper with the old XT thumbshifters. I also had a bike with the Suntour XC thumbies and I thought that they were good. The Paul (Dura Ace) thumbshifters are flawless. They are a bit pricey---my one extravagance---but well worth the coinage.

I love when a part justifies the cost. Few things have ever done that for me. S&M bmx frames, King headsets, Profile cranks, XT hubs. You get the point. Those shifters look nice! I'll consider them if I ever buy a gearie again.
