Nice titanium hardtail in the UK - Cotic Soda

    I've just built a titanium hardtail. It's made by Cotic - https://www.cotic.co.uk

It's called the Soda and is designed for a 5 inch fork. They also do a Reynolds 853 steel hardtail called the Soul.

I've built it up as follows:

    Frame: Cotic Soda
    Forks: Pace RC41 XCAM
    Headset: Chris King NoThreadset
Stem: Syntace F99/254 with titanium bolts - 6 deg
Bars: Race Face Next XC Low Riser carbon
    Grips: ODI Ruffian Lock-On 120mm & 90mm
    Shifter: SRAM X.0
Brake system: Hope Mono Mini with Goodridge hoses
    Wheels: Mavic Crossmax XL
    Tyres: Kenda Nevegal Stick-E
    Cassette: Shimano XT CS-M760 - 11-32t
    Chainset: Extralite Extralite E-Bones W / rings / bolts / 32 / bash
Pedals: Crank Brothers Egg Beater - Triple Ti
Rear mech: SRAM X.0 rear short cage 2006 model
    Chain: SRAM PC-99 Hollow Pin
Saddle: SDG I-Beam Bel Air ST
    Seatpost: SDG I-Beam - 27.2 x 350mm
    Seatpost clamp: Hope quick release

    Weighs around 22 lbs.

The Egg Beater pedals work best with XC style shoes with stiff soles. This winter I'll be running softer soled waterproof shoes with the Crank Brothers Acid pedal.

The Cotic frames look pretty good for my proportions: low and long. I am not looking for a frame now but if I were...

The Soda has been out of stock for a while but it seems to be back now.
The Roadrat looks like a great commuter/town bike.

Had mine for almost a year now. I still can't think of any other hard tail I'd rather have. It gets ridden hard, used for a little FR stuff, xc race bike, 4x (mountain cross to the yanks) everything.

I traded up from a Soul (which is now my SS, the first "Simple")

Aim for 2007 is to loose 2lb in weight - despite a 3.5lb frame min comes in at 27lb with the Pikes, XL's and Juicy 7's. The trick is going to be keeping the bombproof ride feel going. Kate Potter's (Cotic team endurance racer) Soda comes in at 19lb!

I just sprouted some early afternoon wood-but don't tell my Dean colonel currently at home bolted to my trainer.
