I was washing it, getting it prepped for this weekends ride, flipped it over and noticed a crack around the weld, as seen here. The thing's seen less than 5 rides and it's already cracked.
Let's see. I paid the LBS $100 to build it up for me, plus another $75 to Marzocchi to have a longer steerer tube put on it. Now, I have to pay someone to strip it down (I can do most myself, except for the brakes & headset), and pay for shipping back to Jensen, wait for a new frame and pay more $$ to have it built back up again. Not to mention the gas/time it takes for 2 round trips to get to the LBS, which is 50 miles away.
Wow. For a cheap frame, it sure is expensive. I am focking livid right now.
if the shop built the bike, it sounds like the shop might have over-torqued the EBB pinch bolts. how experienced was that shop with singlespeeds? the pinch bolts don';t need much torque to hold the EBB in place. any excess torque will put a lot of stress on that weld.
(i.e. i' guess i'm suggesting to you that the LBS might need to step up and handle all this at no cost. btw 100 bucks is a lot of money to build up a SS. i built up mine in 30 mins., since there was no derailleur or shifter cable installatiion).
good luck. the guys as jenson seem pretty helpful so i hope that part of it works out smoothly.

That is a possibility, although I took it to this shop specifically because the mech who works there rides an SS.
I will find out from Jensen what the torque is supposed to be concerning the bolts. Jensen has already contacted me about replacing the frame, after reading my initial post. That is awesome service, I would say.
I thought the price to build up the bike was kind of high, too, but this is the first time they've charged me for any labor since I've taken my bike(s) there, so I didn't complain. Plus, there is a BIG sign in the store stating it will cost $100 to build a bike, so I knew in advance.
