F5 with 36t front chain ring?

    Hi all,

Has anyone tried or currently running a 36 tooth front chain ring on an f5? I am keen to use a Gamut P-30 on my build (max 36t ring), but want to be sure it will work before i splash the cash. Not sure if a 36t will go above that swingarm or if it will rub when i get down to say a 14t at the back...

Not a problem if it doesn't work just would be keen if it does..

    thanks..

Hmmm... interesting. I tried a 36T a while ago and the chain would not clear the swingarm. I remember Marksee told me he ran a 38T though... I for one run a 40T with an 11-23 in the rear and i still outpedal myself every once in while and never ever feel the need for a smaller chainring... I've got an 08 frame if that helps...

It should be ok with your weight on the bike, but it might be a little noisey. I like my bikes silent

I've got a 36, and run some of the loop-side of Velcro on my CS works fine, and is pretty quiet.

    Thanks all,

should have some picks up shortly. I went all last season not getting anywhere near spinning out my 38 (tracks down here in Aus are pretty technicall) so will see how this goes.
