Brushed is practical for MTB and can be easily maintained as long as you own the bike with a Scotch brite pad.

I've owned both. A Duke in Satin and now have an ACE in brushed.
The brushed hides the scrapes much better. Plus the satin finishes vary wildly.
The first one on my Duke looked great. When it was time to sell the Duke I had it reconditioned. The second satin finish looked like grey primer.

    Get the brushed.

I believe the only way to remove scratches in a satin frame to have it disassembled and bead blasted again. Not the most convenient thing to do. Get the brushed.

Unless, of course, you intend to never crash

I was going to have my Thylacine in a 2/3 painted 1/3 brushed finish, but unfortunately it would have meant waiting another 3-4 weeks, and that was something that I wasnt prepared to do.

If you actually do get your bike the order will be
screwed up somehow. Always was when I worked
there. Sorry people if somehow you caught the Dean
spark you need to give your head a good shake.
The fine people at Dean are highly trained to
give it to you up the ass dry.
Good luck and while your at it take a sex
vacation in thailand without the protection
as owning a Dean bike will leave you with the same
    lifelong memories.

If you were to brush a satin finish with Scotch brite pad?
Will you have a brushed frame?
