    Listen! Chumba wait support group

I think this forum needs a support group for those of us waiting on new bikes from Chumba. So I'll start one.

Hi, my name is Chucko, I'm a Chumbaholic. I'm waiting for an XTR grey XCL.

Get a grip, man! (humor and sarcasm intended)

Is there anything more pathetic than seeing this grown emoticon weep like a baby?

    There is only one cure

Hi Chucko, my name id Dirtdad, and we see Chumbaholism more and more here at CA - Chumbaholics Anonymous.

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that modern science has developed a cure - a Chumba bike, duh! The bad news is that there is no known substitue. No other bike delivers the goods the way the XCL does, or shreds quite like an EVO. You can spend all the time you want on similar looking bikes, but they just won't satisfy the craving you have for authentic Chumbaness. And come to think of it, there ISNT anything similar looking to the EVO, so forget that part altogether.

The only way to deal with it is to tough it out. Posting here, checking out Chumba's web site, riding your old bike, all help a little, but not much. Good luck.

CJ, going to you for therapy would be like Lindsay Lohan going to a bar for rehab.

    Update: 2/3 here...

After a scenic tour of the north SF Bay area, FedEx dropped off the frame and the build kit at home. Of course this is the day I'm leading a ride right after work. Another few hours won't kill me.

The dealer reports he just got the fork in and it should ship today. I hope FedEx doesn't give it the same scenic tour.

Looking forward to a break-in ride Sunday... crossing fingers, toes, etc.

I just put in an order for an xcl yesterday and will hopefully have it within 2 weeks. To say I can't wait is a huge understatement!

Another update... got the XCL 2/3 put together over the weekend, but the dealer sent the standard brakes instead of the upgrade I requested. So now FedEx has a pair of Juicy 7s with my name on them. If I'm lucky they'll show up tomorrow, so I can finish the bike tomorrow night and ride it Wednesday after work.

Oh yeah, the fork I was waiting on turned out to be an '08 model. Worth the wait? We'll see...

    Great ride

That is a great looking bike. The '08 Talas colors look nice on it Maybe instead of XTR gray they could call if Fox gray.

Nice photography, too. The flash fill really shows the frame construction. I like the way XCLs stand out with the shock mount welded to the sides of the top tube, it is very clear in that pic.

that's a nice looking rig! That gunmetal color is tight, and the fork does match perfectly.
