New question here. Can you tell me anything about this 'Iron Horse'?

    Hey guys,

    Just wanting your opinion,
Attatched is an image of an iron horse bike about 8 years old,
Its aluminium (of course), its 21 speed
and has XT componentry, What do you think
Is it a good buy for $250?

    Thanks ALOT

    Cool old ride

Where did you find that museum piece? Those were cutting edge back then and still ok if your just looking to try the sport but with that ultra high main pivot every time the suspension cycles the chain has to grow a lot so it will effect the drive train and kick back at the peddles pretty bad. It looks like it's in showroom condition though and it would make quite a conversation piece or maybe a commuter.

Frame was made by Italian company Verllichi (spelling?), and featured marzochi shocks front and rear. Ridden to the world champs by Dave Cullinan, in a race where he timed a jump to go in between a moving chair lift (if he timed it wrong he would have crashed into the chair), and still won. Also ridden by Marzocchi factory riders. Roughly 1993/1994/1995. A buddy of mine had one when they were new. Maybe 2 inches of travel, 2 1/2 max. By today's suspension, not very good, but as a retro piece of MTB history, pretty damn cool.
