Builders for S&S Couplers retrofit on Ti

anyone have experience in havoing their frame "retrofitted" with s & s couplers?

i have a ti 29er frame and i am playing with the idea of having the couplers added to my frame.

any specific builders i should look at?
    price?

    TIA

You should first call S&S to make sure the tubing is the correct size.

    try DeSalvo

He's done a bunch of S and S in ti and steel.
I like to start out slow and then back it off a notch.

DeSalvo's good. There is also I.F. Dean may be the least expensive. They charge $175 labor (I believe) plus the cost of the couplers.

I looked at this, didnt do it, but would have used Bilenky in Philadelphia as I think they have the most experience.

Every place charges more or less the same. If you can find a place locally, that would save the time and expensive and potential damage of shipping. They will also help you in person to figure out how to pack it all up.

Most places will not do retrofits, just new builds with the couplers. Some builders suggest not retrofitting, but just selling the old frame and getting a new one because retrofitting can result in a frame out of alignment. That said, I have heard of tons of people getting a frame retrofit without any problems.

Builders on the west coast [steel frame]?

Are there builders on the west coast that will retrofit?

I travel for work a lot (> 100k miles/year), and I'm at the point that I'd like to bring my bike occasionally. I measured my frame to see if I could build a case that I could take on UA as checked luggage, and it is about four inches too long (L+W+H=62").

Rather than get a custom frame built with the couplers, and worry about damage or theft while out of town, I'd rather just get an inexpensive frame (On-One singlespeed?) retrofitted.
