    Trumbull Trail Work Update

    1.
The DEP and the Town of Trumbull have taken an active role in fixing up some of the highly-eroded trails in the Park and before the Spring will be stabilizing deeply-eroded areas with geotech, drainage rip rap stone and gravel. Expect, on occasion during the week, to see authorized Town of Trumbull personnel working in the Park.

The Trumbull Trails Coalition (TTC) met with the Trumbull Parks Commission Meeting (Jan 10th / Trumbull Town Hall). As mentioned, the Town Rangers will be in the park (weather and less snow permitting!) to fix up certain areas. For starters, they were responsible for shoring up the Rail Trail by the North Bridge Connector.

Don't expect much activity until the snow levels diminish but they plan on fixin' up some of the worse spots before the big spring melts. For example, the perpetual wet area -- the gravely open space in the southern Serengeti -- will finally be beefed up with a raised bed of rip rap stone and gravel.

Also, the State and the Town will be working together to build a decent kiosk at the South End (Daniels Farm / Park Road).

    FYI:
The TTC will resume work in March when the ground unfreezes.
