    Trumbull race cancelled

Does anyone know why the race in Trumbull for this week was cancelled?

I believe they were not even close to ready. They did not have a route mapped out or anything.

Could have also been because of permits. Permits for state land are not easy to get. There may have been a division that did not give it the OK (fish and game, wetlands, forest service, land manager...all have to OK it usually). Last I heard the land manager was in the dark. The state may have given a blanket OK to cover all these though. The only other thing I can think of is maybe it was just too much work to put it on and give all the money away or there were not enough people registered?

Tough place for a race anyway...tight and slow. When I run in there I can usually keep up with guys on bikes on the upper hilly trails. They lose me on the DH, I catch them on the climbs. Put a few dozen riders clumped up and I'm sure it gets even slower and there would be a lot of running with bikes rather than riding.

I thought it would be tough putting in the course

They said a 5.5 mile loop. To put that size loop in there you would have to use most of the park, and it would be real tight and twisty. I think it would be a blast, but the logistics of parking setting up a starting area could be a nightmare. I hope to get up there next weekend for some riding.
