    Fatbiking RI Beaches?

Does anyone know if there are regulations regarding riding the beaches in the Westerly/ Charlestown area? Are you able to ride from watch hill to Weekapuag uninterrupted or who we could ask this question to? Asking for a friend, thanks for any info

The best bet it to call Parks and Recreation of each town.

However, I do know there is a gap at Quonnie Beach, so there is no direct beach route to either Blue Shutter or East Beach.

While I have never run across any signs expressly forbidding biking on the beach, I have seen fat bike sign on Napatree Point in the dead of winter. Do it early in the morning at low tide and no one should be able to bitch you out about crossing "their" beach as you'll be on public land all the way (access point to beach and back out again). There's been a few lawsuits about right of way access and who can wander where exactly along the Atlantic Ave section of beach that are still getting fought over.

There is a small public lot (DEM Weekapaug Fishing Area) on the Atlantic Ave side just before the bridge over the breachway for stashing a car. It's about 6 miles on the pavement and damn near flat as a pancake outside of the small hill that leads to Bluff Ave, figure about the same for the actual beach traverse. The furthest west public access point you can ride from is on Bluff Ave, next to Taylor Swifts "cottage". Everything to the west is seawall and boulders till Napatree Point. Be aware there's no parking for longer than 2 hours on the Watch Hill side- the cops don't care in the winter about the time limits but they sure as hell care right now with all the touroids in town.

For breakfast- give St Claire's Annex in Watch Hill (bottom of the hill, next to the Carousel) a try. The owners are really good cooks and its worth the stop no matter which end you start from. Early in the morning you should be able to get parking, either in the Bay st lot or on the street.

As far as continuing towards Charlestown from Weekapaug- the Quonnie Breachway looks like a show stopper. While there's a "sand trail" (no clue how public it is) to get you to the beach again- there's no way to cross the Quonnie breachway without a boat . Same with the Blue Shutters Beach to the Charlestown Breachway section.
