REALLY Bad KS LEV warranty Experience.

In May, I bought two KS carbon Lev dropper posts from QBP.
I had four rides on it, but on a recent trip to Colorado, one of them failed completely on my second ride. Oh, well.
I sent them the post back (with an RA#), with two mini bottles of booze (which I always do for any warranties, it can be a thankless job.)
I got a nasty gram back, accusing me of sending in a much older post “due to the wear the technician found”. I had an invoice from QBP, I had never owned a KS product)
They were assh0les about it, but eventually sent me the post with a note from the tech admonishing me to “service my post more frequently”, and that it was a “one time favor”.
Well, go fvck yourselves, the post was ABSOLUTELY BRAND NEW.
All I got out of the whole thing is that their posts can’t handle five rides without the internals failing, and looking trashed.
Left a really bitter taste in mouth...but word of mouth gets around.
I hope some product managers are reading this. It says a lot about how they view their customers.

I must admit, I have a brand X ascend II for about 4 years, has worked flawlessly in the time, been through mud and gunk and dust, never touched it, still works like new.
Got a KS LEv Ci last year, haven;t used that much (work + corvid), but never worked as good at the brandx, started not being that happy a few weeks ago (so 2 rides ago), stopped working at all on the weekend.
I don't really use a dropper much, yes I have not serviced it at all, so I blame myself for that...but compared to the Brand X, which is waaay cheaper, it's not so good.
All the gear and no idea.

I recently bought my son a Commencal that came with a KS dropper post. A friend of ours was so impressed with the bike he bought one as well. His post never worked right from day one. I rebuilt the post of another friend's bike. That when I saw it. KS has such a poor design. No wonder their posts have issues. I've rebuilt Fox, Rock Shox, and DVO posts and that experience has convinced me to never buy a KS product. Plus, after hearing your story, and the fact that Fox and DVO (especially) have great customer service, it's just more of a reason to steer clear of KS.

No, it was definitely brand Spankin’ new.
QBP doesn’t mess around with refurb or used products. They don’t accept any sort of returns, really.

I can testify their service sucks. I bought a new bike, their LEV Integra failed, contacted them and I was told something like 'oh, you live outside of the US, so you're screwed, but we can sell you a new one'. Bought a replacement cartridge with my own money still under warranty period.

On the other hand, some other of their products are good. The original LEV is rock solid and its still working on my old 2012 bike I no longer own.

LEV CI owner here, also got a nasty gram telling me to service my post more often, and blaming me for their issues after the local shop told me that I should have sent it back in for warranty repair long before I did.

Last week sent them photos of a cracked lower seat clamp, they responded with "the Metal one will not break so go buy that instead". What a joke this company is, I will never own another product of theirs, but 27.2 limited my choice quite a bit this time around

I guess I will be greasing this piece of shit every ride now so that my $400 dollar seatpost doesn't become a complete paperweight

So sad to hear about KS' issues. I have a gen 2 KS Lev on a 2009 frame that has been working flawlessly all this time. I just lube the post every season and all is good.

Why would there be any resistance to such an innocuous request? This kind of thing is commonplace on the interwebz. No reason to get snide. Folks wanna see the goods.

I Sent them the photo of the seat clamp, after reading enough to see this is a somewhat common issue (its a carbon piece)

I emailed them, and you can see the reply.
I actually bought a torque wrench just because i had read of this issue, and wanted to make sure to avoid it.

I did not spend several hundred more than some of the droppers on the market to slowly replace all of the carbon parts with aluminum parts.

this is my second time dealing with their warranty service

first time they pulled the same thing the other poster had
"this is your fault, and we're graciously helping out this one time" language.

It looks to be an exact copy of the original KS lev! I am still running a 2013 version on my 5-Spot and except for buying new top pieces - which crack and warp because of the poor design, it has worked well.

I think I will pick one of those up when they come back in stock.

    catastrophic failure

5 years ago my carbon KS LEV Integra, not even one year old, never crashed, snapped IN HALF - the entire mast - when I went to lower it on the trail. A long sharp aluminum shard barely missed my femoral artery. KS sent another one with a note stating "Courtesy crash warranty replacement": CYA b.s. I came close to bleeding out on the trail. I weigh only 140 lb. There should have been a recall. On another KS seatpost, the aluminum bottom rail clamp snapped in half on the trail.

Bike Yoke Revives are also snapping off with catastrophic failure at the very top of post - a known issue and they have redesigned it recently - but they still are not issuing any warning or recall.

I'd like to know how many other seat posts are doing this - breaking with sharp shards of metal - what brands, etc.
