New Bontrager dropper post not going down

Brand new Trek Fuel and dropper post will not go down easily. Loosen the seat post clamp it drops but then seat post spins and lowers in height. I can not find a good seat post clamp torque to secure seat post but still allows dropper to drop. All that make sense? Any ideas?

I've got the same issue with my OneUp except mine binds on the way up and won't return to full height. If I back off the torque on the seatpost clamp it works fine, but then the seatpost spins in the seat tube.

Any suggestions? Maybe try carbon paste?
