How do figure out dropper size? 75mm 100mm or 125mm

So I got a good deal on a dropper and had to send it back. I chose the 125mm which sits about an inch too tall, putting the seat way to high for how short I am.

Is there a way to actually figure out what size I need?

    Yes. Measure your bike.

You need to know how much exposed seatpost you have with your saddle in an ideal position. Measure from the clamp to the top of the collar on your bike.

Next, you need to know the requirements of whatever dropper posts you're looking at. Amount of drop plus the clamp plus whatever else it requires. This is the minimum amount of exposed seatpost required.

Then look at what its absolute maximum height can be. This is from the seat clamp to the minimum insertion mark on the post.

Finally, compare your setup to the various droppers. If yours sits between the minimum and maximum amounts of exposed post required by the dropper, it will fit.

Thanks, did some measuring and I believe a 100mm will work but it will be close.

Additionally, make sure you have room inside your frame to accommodate the dropper internals. Water bottle cage bolts, bends in the seat tube, welds, interrupted seat tubes, stuff like that can affect how much seat post can be inserted. You cannot cut a dropper post shorter, and many of them tend to be kinda long to accommodate the internals of the post.
