    Headset Race Question

With the spare time right now I decided to strip the whole bike down and service everything.
When I pulled the fork I noticed the seal bearing seats in the middle of the shoulder of the race. You can see in the pic where the bearing sits as it's scored on the shoulder.

Is that normal or is the bearing supposed to sit all the way on the race?

The bearing race it's not supposed to sit flush with the crow race.
The amount of gap is different for different brands and models.

Looks to me like the bevel angle of the race may not properly match the bevel angle of the bearing. Common angles are 36 and 45 degrees.
    What, me worry?

The wear line is in the middle and not at the very top or bottom so itís actually good evidence that the angle is exactly right. Nothing to worry about here.

I would think if the angle matched, there'd be a flat wear band, not a sharp line that looks like an edge digging in.
    What, me worry?

That is correct the lower edge of the angle is what it making contact. The race and the bearing are slightly different angles. Doesnít seem right to me.
