Ergon claims this is not a defective saddle..?!

I was swapping out my Ergon saddle when selling my old bike, and noticed the rails were mangled.. so I contacted the retailer I got it from, who then contacted Ergon.. and Ergon said this is not a defect?

I had the saddle rails torqued to spec and inbetween the stop markers.

The store is being nice enough to offer a replacement at cost, but I still feel like this should be on Ergon. What can I do here?

I've seen riders bend seat rails pretty badly when they don't stand up when they should be....

The saddle looks well worn, it looks like you had it mounted slammed all the way back on the rails, and i'm guessing you're heavy and not that nimble... where's the defect? Not everything that you break is defective. If I bend another alloy rim, does the manufacturer owe me a new one?

I'm surprised that the seller is offering to replace it at cost, and I think you're lucky they offered you anything. The definitely don't owe you shit. I'd accept their offer with a smile and a thank you, or just keep riding the saddle as is.

What seat post was this on? My buddy has bent 3 Ergon saddles recently using a 9point8 seat post. The 9point8 clamp seems shorter than other clamps (We measured his clamp vs my Bike Yoke and Fox for comparison.) We checked and heís running his saddle right in the middle.

I rode an Ergon saddle for a couple of years on a 9point8 and didnít have any issues. So it may just be a matter of not getting off the saddle a little when hittting g-outs.

Looks like that saddle was mounted too far rearward. Created too much cantilever and easily bent rails from a big vertical impact on the rear of the saddle.
