cutting down Sidi Dominator soles to work with Speedplay Frog cleats

No idea where to put this question....

Anyway, LBS says xacto/utility knife but seems like maybe Dremel would be better...? Thoughts?

First pair of Sidis in two decades. Been riding Carnacs which haven't had this problem.

In my experience the tread material is soft enough to 'move out of the way' when you tighten the cleats.
I've been riding SIDI and Speedplay exclusivley for 18+ years and haven't had to trim.

Good shoes, bad pedals. That's the problem.

Isn't there a spacer available to raise the cleat? I can't see if you have it in there already.

The tread should move out of the way. Been running Sidi shoes and frogs for 16 years.

Hey! Got about six or seven pairs. Work for me.

Thanks guys. Just got the dremel in the mail today but may try the "move out of the way" thing first

Ok, nevermind, just ordered some Shimano SH-XC70s with the heat moldable upper and insoles. Looks like they have more room for cleats, too. Sidis are going back.

Depending on why you use the Frogs, you should check out the Syzr. I have one pair and plan to get at least one more.

They live up to the billing: free float, positive action, and the most stable platform of any mtb pedal I've ever tried.

    Love them.

I have been using Frogs with Sidi and Shimano shoes for almost the past 20 years. With the Sidi's I use a Dremel to trim the shoe's pads. I've tried other pedals but always come back to the Frogs. Other pedals give my knees and ankles problems; but no problems for me with the Frogs. My right foot splays out a bit. I mount the cleat on the right shoe rotated, which takes more space on the shoe and necessitates trimming.

I've used Dremels and utility knives to trim the lugs on SIDI Dominators. Both methods worked fine.

I'll second the recommendation for SYZRs.
