    125mm dropper vs. 150mm
Call me a size king, but 4 inches just isn't enough.

Seriously, I'm looking to upgrade the KS eTen that came with my new bike with more travel and (ideally) less weight. A 125mm dropper will fit nicely, but I've confirmed that my seat tube can accommodate 150mm. (Shut up, you perverts.)

    Question for the experts:

Is there any negative to having "extra" travel in a dropper?

I understand that 6-inch droppers tend to cost and weigh a little more than 5-inchers, but aside from that, is there any reason not to go with a 150mm travel dropper instead of 125mm?

    Thanks for your time.

If a 150mm dropper will fit, then why not? Only reason I see is that not every brand offers a 150mm post. If you're set on a particular brand of post that doesn't offer 150mm of drop (or you can't find one anywhere because they're sold out), then that's a reason.

No downside to putting 150 on your current bike if it fits. However, if you ever plan on using it on a different bike, that might be one reason to go with the 125. Better chance of the 125 fitting more bikes.
