Or was it that they dared show a bike using the part of the road that motorists want to drive on.

Around here there have been a number of non-cycling-related ads that show cyclists without helmets. One for laser eye surgery, another for one of the cellphone companies, and another for some retirement something I think? Helmets aren't the law here (and I don't give them much credit beyond resistance to cuts and abrasions) but it surprised me that the mythical helmetless cyclist has been co-opted by a bunch of lifestyle peddlers.

"Therefore, for those reasons we concluded the ad was socially irresponsible and likely to condone or encourage behaviour prejudicial to health and safety."

Phew! I thought that kind of nonsense only happened in the US.

    I liked this part, too:

"Furthermore, we were concerned that whilst the cyclist was more than 0.5m from the kerb, they appeared to be located more in the centre of the lane when the car behind overtook them and the car almost had to enter the right lane of traffic."
Thank God the overtaking car wasn`t forced ALL the way into the right lane!

Buddy and me were riding down a large sidewalk (MUP) A drainage manhole was cut into this path....about 12 inches down...

Anyway he didn't see it and rode right into the hole OTB and onto concrete at 20 kph.

Sat up dazed and confused for about 5 minutes....

Helmet was split in two pieces with a lot of road rash.

I would have had a major concussion and a very deep laceration to the scalp without the helmet.
