    Entertaining and some good tips...

I really want those "Cat Ears". I used to have some fleece "Dog Ears" and they were the cat's meow for a little warmth.

Not the most thorough guide, but a good start. One gripe I have is that he said just a thin base layer and shell is good in the winter. Sometimes you need an insulating layer. For me, if it's below the high 30's, I add an additional layer. Also, the shell makes a huge difference. If I wear my Pearl Izumi cycling jacket, I'd need an extra layer in the winter. My Craft jacket stops 99.9% of the wind, my PI more like 90%. Big difference.

I live 20 minutes from downtown DC and pedal to work most days except in the persistent+ rain. I don't have super fancy gear- more old school stuff like 6+ year old Northwave shoes, similar vintage Lake cycling gloves and I wear an appropriate number of layers of clothing.

I have the most fun on snow bike commutes which have been a rarity around this area the past couple of years.
