Actually.... beer is a quite good choice. Alcohol is pure energy and the sugars help you feel better. Half a can of soda is a really good pick up after a ride. I keep a little sport-drink and on a long day of mtb riding, a bit of vodka in my pack. I'm not an alcoholic, but it's great for energy and I never feel the slightest inkling of being buzzed.

I have one when I get to work and one when I get home. Protein shakes with water and a banana helps keep the crazy hunger in check.

Natural Light in a can (less alcohol and more water)....so cold from the ice chest that you can't hardly reach in to get one without getting hypothermia...LOL> And water........on really hot days a couple pinches of organic sea salt too.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is one of my favorite beers. Good choice!
