New Bike Day! (and I will commute on it some).

New to me anyway. 2002 Eddy Merckx Fuga frame. Built up by a friend with used but decent shimano parts. Got just a little test ride in today. I love it! I really like the wide bar too.

    And, a new family photo.

Ol' Black is pretty tired, and needs to be replaced. But that will likely have to wait for a while. I plan to start obtaining parts, and saving for my frame right away, but it will take awhile. Meanwhile, I will tighten up the worn out rearend bushing as best I can, put one more set of pads in, shift carefully to preserve the very overstretched and worn transmission, and get one more season out of it. Meanwhile, Ol' Red and the new fast guy are around to keep me amused as well.

    Happy Father's Day to me!

Congrats on the new to you bike. I like what you did with it. Enjoy the ride!
The pedals turn, not just the left one, but the right one too.

So though it rained again today and I was not willing to take it out for a long ride to grime up the new tranny, I did get out between showers (and in one a little) to test things out. Huge upgrade from what I am used to for a road bike, which was a 1988 Trek 1200 I bought new and rode into the ground.

This bike responds immediately to increased cadence and pedal pressure, feels much smoother, but also very responsive, and looks to be very fun. Going to plan some "light day" commutes where I don't need to carry much. Looking forward to a fast commute on those light days! And some fun riding too.
