    Nature Boy and Fenders

I got the All-City Nature Boy SS frame to build up as a commuter/winter bike. The NB has horizontal dropouts that open to the rear. The SKS rear fender attaches to the inside of the chain stays and I have the screws at all other points. I'm going to replace the screw that's on the chain stay bridge with the clip when I put the studlies on. Any ideas on what I can use at the other points so the rear fender can be removed -- hopefully without tools -- to change a flat tire? It's already going to be interesting enough to loosen the dropout screws to move the wheel forward to take off the chain.

I don't know if I'm picturing this right, but would wing nuts help? I also used an old quick release for securing something else, but alot are not threaded the whole way, making them less useful.

The black clips that come w/ SKS fenders (they're intended for the front) can be used on the rear fender stays to allow you to pop the stays loose in order to pull the rear wheel out when changing a flat. They're not super necessary in the front, so don't worry about not using them there. In fact, Planetbike fenders don't even come with quick release clips.

Another option is to pick a gearing and chain length such that the wheel is near the back of the dropouts. Then, given a normal fender line with enough room between the tire and fender, there's a good change you can just squeeze the tire past the fender on the way out/in.

I was wondering if such a critter as "wing bolt" existed.

Darn! I wish I would have thought of that before I cut them to length.
