    help me find a commuter
I was looking for flat bar with skinnies (Giant Rapid, Cannodale quick, Trek FX) but

should I consider these as well? Is it just a MTB with slicks?

Trying to keep it around $200-$500

$200 to get 3 speeds on the same bike?

I also want to ride it on the road for fitness on the weekends.

    MY LOCAL CRAIGSLIST

    I usually fit a 17" / M frame + -

    Thanks

I've seen a few single speed Salsa Casserolls on eBay recently that would be in your price range.

i have seen that Transit Weaver at Performance and it looks pretty sweet for the price. nice fat tires, decent parts, ability to run a rear derailleur and a cassette. the rear wheel has a regular freehub on it, so you should be able to buy a cassette, derailleur, and shifter and run it as a 1x9.

I got a Giant Seek3 for $500. very good commuter. the frame is not too stiff, but it rolls fast. would probably go faster with skinnier tires, comes with 700x32. Not the best brakes, but disc is a good bonus. I threw some shimano M520s on with the platform/reflector adapter so I can ride in my MTB shoes for longer chores or hop on in my chuck taylors for a quick beer run.

I am looking at the Giant Rapid 3 because it allows me to crave some canyon roads on the weekends, and it's got road bike gearing, 700C etc. I think it's probably a bit more aggressivie riding position, what do you think?
It's about same price as a Seek..
