    helmet light

i was looking for a helmet light, not one 'for seeing' but on to 'be seen'. i've seen those helmets with lights in them. i was thinking more along the lines of a blinkey light that attaches to the top of the helmet (that doesn't look dorky). thoughts?

There are a couple "all in one" solutions I know of:

    Lezyne Macro Drive Duo
Lezyne - Engineered Design - Products - LED Lights - Macro Duo

    Light and Motion Vis360
    Vis 360+ - Light & Motion

Alternately you can buy a couple light weight but inexpensive lights (what I do). I use a Cateye Volt 100 (very light, plenty bright to be seen and tight spot) which cost $20 (helmet mount was separate) and a Planet Bike Helmet Rear light

Front light? Back Light? Both? They all look dorky.

Isn't this exactly what you want?

don't worry about looking dorky on a bike. once that helmet goes on it's all over.

On my MTB helmet, I have a small piece of heavy duty Velcro on the back of my helmet (rough side on the helmet, fuzzy side on light clip) where I can attach my Blackburn 2'fer light. On my road helmet (Bell Z-20) there is a vent in the back that happens to be just the right size to secure my 2'fer light while being hooked thru the yoke of my helmet straps. It almost looks like it came that way.

I have been using the L&M Vis 360 for probably 8 years. Great product, I would highly recommend it for commuting in the dark.

I've been using the same for a few years. They stopped making it with the blink mode after I bought my first one, and the second came with a pulse. I would not buy a helmet light for drivers to see me unless it has an optional blink mode. I don't use it very often, as I have a brighter strobe on my headlight for before dark, but there are a couple of dicey intersections where temporarily turn on blink on the helmet at night (to go with a steady+pulse headlight at night). I talked to their customer service, and they said they were phasing out blink/strobe for international concerns about confusing with emergency vehicles, but I think it rules out future purchase from me, as a lot of drivers will not look at anything short of a blink/strobe.
