    Dirt/Road Commuting Tires

Hi all, I'm having some trouble finding some tires for my mountain bike. I'm using it for commuting, 40% smooth dirt 60% road. 26" wheels. I'm looking for something lightweight, under 500gr. Would something like these work okay?:

    Thanks in advance,

    Commodus.

How about some Kenda Small block 8s? The 26x1.95 version is around 420g and much more reasonable at $32 each. Kenda Kwicks, which are similar in tread design to the Speedmaxs you mentioned are also lighter and cheaper. The Kenda Kross Plus is a little over 500g each, but a lot of people like them.

+1 for SB8s as long as you don't ride in mud (they pack up) or on very loose dirt (squirrelly). They are superb for riding roads and hardpacked trails: low rolling resistance, fast, quiet, light.
