    Converting to commuting recomendations

I have an old Univega Ridgid MTB that I am thinking of converting to commuting duty.

I am curious as to any recomendations to do to it for getting it ready to go commuting to work each day.

Slick Tires that you can put lots of PSI into. Bright Lights - Front and Rear. Working brakes. Rack for the back and maybe panniers for storage depending what you need for work. Bell helps keep pedestrians alert. Helmet is a must + gloves and glasses help with debris. Need an extra tube / patch kit / tools and pump to make repairs when needed. + good attitude helps, drivers can be annoying. Good luck & have fun.

I've got the majority of the basics from my MTN bike I normally ride. The attitude I have from dealing with A$$whole drivers when I rode Street bikes. I loved my carbon fiber knuckle gloves for bashing in mirrors.

Depends on your route and distance, but SS can be lots of fun (using the 42t ring you've got up front, and spacers + a cog on the freehub).

^ ehhhh, it really, probably, honestly, likely wouldn't be as bad as you think.

It has been a long time since I rode a SS type bike, probably 18 years,
