    commuting tire question?

I have a MTB and want to convert it to commuting use (100 miles per month)

I think the rims are 26 x2.0 is it too wide to accept some road tires?

also is the standover an issue when just riding it as a road bike (technically a hybrid), currently it is too tall for me as a MTB.

I doubt those rims are actually 2.0" wide, and any normal commuting tire down to 26x1.25 should fit just fine. Personally for commuting on a 26" tire I find that 26x1.5" is the happy place, giving you some good traction, shock absorption, and still is easy rolling.

As for the frame size, a bike that is too big for you is just that: too big for you. I'd not put any money into something that doesn't fit. Sell that bike on Craigslist and pick up one that fits. Your comfort and performance on a proper fitting bike is going to do a whole lot more for your enjoyment of riding.

If you are comfortable riding the bike, you are comfortable riding the bike.

There are a lot of threads that talk about commuting slicks.
