Commuting with a plan

Living in quake country im prepared to ditch car and roll bike i always carry in car, cuz if major quake happens the highways will be shut down cuz crashes and rodw damage..

Don't you worry about someone smashing your windows and stealing your bike? Then you'll be in a tight spot. But it sounds like commuting is a feasible option, why not just opt for it?
