    commuter bike mods

Has anyone ever rigged a cow catcher onto a bike for distracted pedestrians? While riding through campus this morning on my way to the office, distracted pedestrians kept walking into the street from between parked cars without looking. Most either had headphones or were on their cellphones. A cow catcher on my commuter bike would come in handy at times like today.

This is the closest I could find on a Google Image search.

I guess this is part of the reason some places want to ban distracted walking, even.

    Reminded me of this...

You have no excuse for driving to work
(unless you don't have studded tires)
    (no excuse for that either)

I think if you took the plastic shield from the first bike and put it on the second bike, you'd be protected from the "zombie" guts as you mowed down the herd. you could actually wear your work clothes and not have to change.

I've seen that but mostly at the top of the mountain I work on. Seems people get dumb when they're at altitude. They tend to just want to stand in the middle of the road.

Anyway, maybe a bell or a horn button that lets out fart sounds?

    Good luck with that.

hey, that's the highest altitude I've ever been, so I can't blame people for getting dumb up there. Plus, most are sorely underdressed for it.

They shouldn't ban distracted walking, just remove liability from vehicle operators if it can be shown that the victim was crossing/walking while distracted. Once we as a society stop trying to save people from their own foolishness, the problem will solve itself, either through increased awareness of self-preservation or attrition.
The ridiculousness of cycling clothes increase exponentially in relation to the distance from your bicycle.
