The first one is pretty awesome. I saw a couple waiting next to it for some cyclists to pass yesterday, and they were all, "ooooo" when the numbers trickled up as I and one other rider rolled over the sensor.
That's a good place for a bike counter. Not as high visibility, but a good place. The next best place I can think of is the Burke-Gilman trail bridge at the Rainier vista.
That's very cool. Where I am there's one bridge that's a natural choke point, and it would be a perfect place for one of these. Now I'm jealous.
