    Another Fatal Hit and Run

Cyclist killed in hit-and-run on Leitrim Road early Sunday - Ottawa - CBC News

So sad to seen another loss of life. Another reason why we need to take cycling infrastructure more seriously.

^^ So sorry to hear. I hope the cyclist and the driver are identified.

Cyclist identified, was a father. Whom ever it was will probably get 10 or 15 years at most and get parole.

Damn. That's terrible. That's why I've avoided highways and main roads.

But even in backroads or side streets, you have to be aware of traffic. That's why I have a side mirror on my bikes. I need to know what's behind me.

10 to 15 years? A woman was hit and killed here last year. Now it was not a hit and run, but it suffered the same outcome.

I think in Canada 25 years before parole is the most you get, and thats for 1st degree murder or treason. Here's a pic of what the bike looks like

Man from the looks of the picture in the article there's a decent bike lane there as well. Scary stuff.

We just had a fatality here the other day, driver did stop though. Waiting for the details to come out but it was at a intersection with a light so I'm guessing either the truck or the biker ran the light. No helmet on the biker. Happened right next to the police station.... I saw a white "ghost bike" at the intersection today chained to a tree.

Also had a hit and run with serious injuries like a week ago. Bad couple weeks for bikes recently for a small town!

And 2 days later in another Canadian city. I know the Dutch take these incidents very seriously. I guess in North America we need the infrastructure and education to save lives.
