    X-post from Passion : 100 miles and 14k of climbing in Crested Butte

    Left Denver early Friday and headed West. Top of Cottonwood pass and the start of dirt roads calls for one thing.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-QD6JNqkysQ8/VAdKGATzfII/AAAAAAAACFk/-sOFb0h5hEs/w700-h452-no/IMG_5502.JPG">

    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh3.googleusercontent.com/-AV8RBsG1Dvg/VAdKGZsubZI/AAAAAAAACFM/BelRLanLKoQ/w1400-h886-no/IMG_5501.JPG" style="width: 700px; height: 443px;">

    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh4.googleusercontent.com/-iQ9Ks_UJzOE/VAdKFMGq2TI/AAAAAAAACE0/oHvnH9PUaxI/w1400-h932-no/IMG_5498.JPG" style="width: 700px; height: 466px;">

    Rolled in just after dark which makes finding camping an extra special experience. Was surprised to score a large open space on Kebler Pass.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh3.googleusercontent.com/-86wl1Id6ao8/VAdOtoe7-MI/AAAAAAAACIk/sD0D2iUAMrQ/w2100-h468-no/10548309_10154543561790710_7857600880514463184_o.j pg" style="width: 1051px; height: 234px;">

    Give me calories. As many as possible and preferably in the form of salty swine.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh3.googleusercontent.com/-V2YJ1OLuW5Y/VAdKCU-xNyI/AAAAAAAACEA/-6YZPn85J94/w1400-h1024-no/GOPR1173.JPG" style="width: 700px; height: 512px;">

    There were some CB newbs in the group so trail 401 was highly requested. I wasn't going to be satisfied with just 401 so we tacked on 403 - much better trail IMO and makes an already scenic ride even more scenic. Route was CB > Washington Gulch > 403 > Gothic Road > 401 > Gothic Rd > CB. Just shy of 40 miles and nearly 6k in elevation gain.

    Lunch stop 1/2 way up Washington Gulch.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh6.googleusercontent.com/-7scxM8nzUEU/VAdKAvMfbcI/AAAAAAAACF0/6qLWbnnYB1A/w1400-h898-no/GOPR1150.JPG" style="width: 700px; height: 449px;">

    Climbing 403.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh5.googleusercontent.com/-IsO5gMn6acg/VAdKAayJOvI/AAAAAAAACDU/ZTL7V9EbR0E/w1400-h922-no/GOPR1155.JPG" style="width: 700px; height: 461px;">

    If the views don't take you're breath away, the elevation certainly will even for these "low country" front rangers.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh4.googleusercontent.com/-2OQr6mAguj0/VAdOtml8VMI/AAAAAAAACIY/o4zkdyyDteI/w1610-h1208-no/10599359_850247091343_7771381345787357957_n.jpg" style="width: 805px; height: 604px;">

    401 get's all the fame. Beautiful, but there's plenty more. And by more, I mean better. I'd never been to the top of 403. Some of the best views on the Western Slope.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh3.googleusercontent.com/-zCa1bY7f_wg/VAdKA7bdP9I/AAAAAAAACDo/WPDTipKHiWE/w1400-h948-no/GOPR1159.JPG" style="width: 700px; height: 474px;">

    Down 403, up Gothic road to the top of Schofield pass and then the last punch to the top of 401. Celebration ensued.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh6.googleusercontent.com/-drRmoraxg6c/VAdKBdrbG8I/AAAAAAAACDk/tC6xw110vAU/w1400-h754-no/GOPR1165.JPG" style="width: 700px; height: 377px;">

    And then the famous views from trail 401.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Gy0elkILq14/VAdKCN2EHUI/AAAAAAAACD0/i7bLkiywOb8/w1400-h890-no/GOPR1168.JPG" style="width: 700px; height: 445px;">

    Day two was Reno > Flag > Bear > Doctor Park. Picture taking was limited although the safety vest did come out. Get a flat. Wear the vest. Thems the rules.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh4.googleusercontent.com/-9GzWH5n3x4A/VAdKDFlKjMI/AAAAAAAACEI/qHqAZj4pjGY/w1400-h1050-no/GOPR1178.JPG" style="width: 700px; height: 525px;">

    There was some fatigue.

    Day 3 was CB > Tony's > Upper Loop > Deer Creek > CB. Also new to me. Not real high be great views of the valley.
    <img class="HAa Eha" src="//lh5.googleusercontent.com/-XBJITSGT8J0/VAdKD4q1oxI/AAAAAAAACEc/87xyPwN21O4/w1400-h856-no/GOPR1219.JPG" style="width: 700px; height: 428px;">

    Gothic Mountain.

    We got outta town just before the trEnduro and Bud Light "whatever town" came to town. Sort of fitting they will be there at the same time.
