The "Who's riding in the Springs Sat" thread

Hey everyone, I volunteered to show some peeps around on Saturday. So rather than shooting out a mass text I posted up here. I was wanting to know if anyone else is up for a Saturday ride in the Canyon?

Stuck in a conference room all day Saturday or I would join you, if you wouldn't mind leaving some clues as to where your going and what your doing, I will follow your tracks on Sunday. Links to trail maps, ideas to googles, trailhead names, any help would be apprieciated. I've never been down to the Springs to ride so I have no idea where to go.

    Thank you!

Wow, high of 47! Might even have to break out the sunglasses.

Bob, It's really hard to describe the ride because we'll be linking together multiple trails. But bascally we'll start at Stratton OS, up the Chutes, up High dr, up Buckhorn then down Capt Jacks back down the Chutes and into the lower trails in Stratton OS. Or some variation of that...

I cut and pasted this from the other thread. Hope to see you there.

"We can meet at 9am. Pace will be medium, as I'm no racer lol. No tech, just fast and flowy and fun. The ride will take about 2 1/2 to 3hrs depending on stops. We can also ride more depending on how everyone feels.
Here's a map, you can see the parking lot just north of the pointer. Sorry tried to embed this but didn't seem to want to work."

Bsoft, possibly PBr and myself are talking about the same route. Haven't figured a time yet. Between 8-10 is far as we've gotten.

Come on down guys! I kinda figured starting around ten would give you Denver guys a little buffer to get down here if you come. Post up what time you were thinking I'm sure we can work it out.

    Thanks

That is exactly what I needed, I found a pretty good map at cograilway.com and just needed some suggestions. Have a great ride Saturday, can't wait to read about it Saturday night to get me stoked for Sunday.

I am a go for tomorrow, thinking about leaving from my house (around bear creek area) to the green way trail to Palmer park, garden of the gods, Manitou, Intermann and home. Should be around 25 miles and some really good trails, feel free to join.

NO stitches...just a sprained knee and a good gash. Doc said I got thick skin on my knees and it didn't make it down to the fatty tissue layer so no need for stitches ..

The Go Pro footage I got was meh...Still wanna get a chest mount as I think it provides the most stable footage but here ya go..

So fast on the ice... must have been corn?

Video is kind of choppy for me.
It looks like something is wrong with the encoding or maybe your SD card isn't reading properly?

I got down there today and I can't thank you enough Sbus for posting the route, what a blast! I must have had a grin from ear to ear the whole time. Soo nice to get some time in the saddle. 2 hrs of mellow climbing (at least the first 2/3) and what a payoff endless flowy goodiness, good muggly buggly I was just having fun. Since I didn't have a clue where to turn once off the dirt road I relied on asking the friendliest bunch of folk to point me in the right directions. The pictures all match my memory so I must have found my way. Again, thanks

Never mind about the route, I guess I missed the high road part and it looks like I took Buckhorn cutoff to the top of upper Jacks, I needed the extra miles anywhoo. It was all good!

Glad you had a good time! Sounds like you got it right and did Buckhorn to Jacks.

Edit: Oops, looks like I posted the wrong road trying to describe the route... It's Chute to Gold Camp rd not High Drive. My bad.

Sunday Singletrack Service_Held in the Springs

Lubes and I made the trip down from the dirty Denver, to the sunny Springs Sunday morning for a new instalment of the Sunday Singletrack Service.

Beautiful Day! DIRT! and good people were all in for a fantastic day of trail riding.....
I had to brush my teeth when I got home from all the dirt/dust collected while I had a $hit eating grin on my face the whole time

First off. Springs people are cool as hell! You guys are like a brother from another mother.
Great meeting you guys and sharing a new trail with us. I'll see what I can do about coming down Wed night for the night ride @ Palmer.

Good Times! ~roughly 15 miles of dry, dusty, dirty singletrack

Here's what I caught through the lens....

Jay, Kristian, Joe, Scott & myself headed up

    Break Time

    Kristian in the playground

    Paul dropping in up top

    Paul coming back down

Joe about to leave the earth

    Quarry

    Topping out for the day

Shameless plug for my homemade frame bag (shakedown run with it today) It rocks!

Couldn't have had a cooler group of dudes to ride with. All in all, it was an amazing day that Lubes and I were recounting the whole way home!

    Thanks Fellas!

That dog was still hanging out in the lower jacks lot when we finished our short loop. Took him to the Human Society where the owner had already dropped off a 'lost dog' picture and he was returned. Great day for everyone.

Good on you for doing that mczen! His owner must of been a mountain biker because he seemed to know the trails pretty well.
