CT will be mostly untouched, unpacked and no bueno. Road up waterton will be poled and packed from the equip coming down and buy bueno.

Agreed. The CT will most likely be buried... even with the wind we've been having.

Will post up some pics on Thursday.

    Waterton Re-opens in 1/2 hour!!!!!

Everything I've read, or heard says today's the day (talked to a lady from Chatfield State Park yesterday, and I rode through Chatfield to the closed off section by the restrooms at the Audubon Center, sign still says March 1st). I'll be there with some buddies at 10:00 am.

It was a great ride this morning!! On the way out, I was amazed (but not surprised) to see every pool in the river with someone fishing it. I think the canyon belongs to the fishermen today!

Heading out in half an hour. Looks like the snow has slowed down, should be perfect!

I like to think conditions can only get better from this point until next November.

screamingbunny, how'd you like that nice ice patch there just before the last turn? Did you remember your ice skates?

Got there at 3 - barely snowing, only a little wind - great to be back on the road to the Colorado trail!! Yeah, the switchbacks above the dam were slicker than c u m on a gold tooth!

way more fishermen than anyone else. More runners than bikers.

    ice!!

Funny hearing you guys talk about that ice on the steepest part of the road past the dam!! I went down, and as my buddy behind me was laughing, down he went!! Great to be back in the canyon, and glad to see the Big Horns in full force (passed two herds on the way up).

There has either been a lot of melting, or they bladed the road. The ice patch was only about 40 ft long, and very rideable,

I can't believe how dry the road was all the way up to the dam.

I rode on March 2nd and hit the ice just past the dam as well, got to the CT and decided it will be a while before it is rideable. But the ride up the road was nice and dry and the bighorn sheep were out in force.

EDIT** the ice patch is more like 100 feet long. It was melty today and pretty slick.

    **UPDATE**
Melt-off is going pretty quickly in this warm weather. Most of the snow in the above pic at Lower Lenny's is nearly gone and the CT should be mostly clear of snow by later this week. I'd wager that Lenny's Rest will be accessible by this next weekend.

The dreaded ice patch on the road just before the CT turn-off is mostly melted off but there are a few patches covered with dirt.

waterton to lenny's was good to go yesterday...
roxborough loop -- not so much. not long after the cutoff i post-hole'd to my thighs before turning around to make it an out & back.

great to be out on the bike!
