    Thaw 2012

Work has been crazy busy... bought a house and moved late last year... haven't been on a bike since October. This sounds like a job for MOAB! I packed up gear and headed out with wife and friends for the THAW - little bike party thrown yearly by Poison Spider. Ran into some old friends and made some new ones. Great weekend. Rumor is that next year they have to start charging, so glad I got while the gettin was free. Pics below of the weekend - only had the iPhone with me, so better than nothing!

Friday - Meet and greet at the Love Muffin. Had several beers and met some really nice people. Yeti Joe passed the giant flask, and I always say "thank you" to that.

Saturday - Meet at Bar-M trailhead for some demos and riding. I'd never been to this trail system before, so I was excited to try tome new trails. We rode Bar-M - EZ - Deadman's - Bar-M to Lazy... came back for some complimentary Pasta Jay's (Thanks for a great meal!)... Then headed out for a second ride - North 40 to some other new loop... good times! Big party and giveaway at the Blue Pig BBQ joint afterwards (no pics of that one, sorry)...

Sunday - Meet back at Bar-M for some more riding. Today we rode Copper Ridge to Bar M to Rockin A to Circle O back to Bar M to Copper to EZ back to the trailhead. I was dehydrated from riding and drinking and started cramping halfway through, so not as many pics. Fortunately, some out of towners had a flat and needed some help. Heard as they were pushing a flatted Yeti up towards us- "It's just a demo bike. You should try to just ride it back... it won't hurt the rim because the tire will protect it." ... Um, it's just a demo?!? So Jason busts out a tube and repairs it for them and sends them on their way. That's how we do! Great day out on the bike. Thanks to Jason and Lynn for waiting while I tried to rehydrate. Packed up and headed home. Great weekend. I needed that...

There can never be too many threads about going to Moab. Nice pics, I really felt I was there.

    How were the legs?

Thanks, xcguy. I always enjoy your pic threads, so glad I get to return the favor. I was cramping (quads) at the end of my ride Sunday - drank 124oz of water during that ride and still ran out before getting back. Being big and fat kinda sucks... My legs are sore, but sore never felt so good.

LOL... I'm not trying to b*tch.I love when the temps are in the 60s. We needed the water/snow, and I hope we get moisture consistently (so the threat of fires stays low all Summer.) I just want some of my favorite rides de-iced is all.

Thanks John! That was good stokeage! Your pix and commentary will definitely inspire me to stay on top of this boot camp workout I've been doing so that I can keep up with folks this year!

The Divas and friends are headed to Moab in April and then to Cortez in May. Hope you guys can make it!

Boot camp workout? Nice work, Wonder Woman. Sounds like you have some sweet riding trips planned. I'll see what I can do to crash your events!

Yep... They were in from Montana or Wisconsin (I forget) to climb and heard about the demo. Really nice people enjoying some really nice free demos, but they were not prepared at all for the ride. Fortunately, we pack kitchen sinks and tubes.
