    Riding/racing around Colorado Springs?

I just got into Colorado College, and am really thinking its the place for me to go to school. I was wondering if anyone could comment on the mtb/road riding around there, specifically the proximity of different types of racing (XC, endurance stuff). Any help would make my decision alot easier....

There is only one race locally...

...and it's a small grass roots race in Victor (behind Pikes Peak).

Congrats on getting into CC. My wife is an alum--it's a really great school. As far as local riding, you won't be disappointed with Colorado Springs. There is a lot of riding and almost all of it is ridable from campus. Our weekly afternoon rides used to always meet at CC and you can hit at least 5 trail systems within a few miles of road riding. In terms of endurance, you can ride up 6,000 feet to the top of Mt. Baldy or 8,000 feet to Pikes Peak. Shoot, by the time you graduate, you will be able to ride 50+ miles of connected singletrack AROUND Pikes Peak as part of the Ring the Peak project.

If you are going to race, you will need a car because most of the Mtn States Cup races are 2-6 hour drives from CS.

PM me if you need more info on CC or our local riding.
