You'll get more in a tax write-off if you donate them.

I hope you'll understand if I don't take tax advice from a self admitted drunk.

...and snob, which means I've got money because I avoid paying more taxes than I need to.

And selling them can be a pain the butt. If you donate to a thrift store they will probably put too high of a price tag on them so they may sit for a long time.

Look up a local bike charity.

Cost me $2 to post here and Craigslist was free. Not much of a pain so far. If they don't sell, no worries. I know I would have appreciated the opportunity to buy them for half price when I got them for my son, so I listed them here and on c-list. (in case a local was in the same boat).

I usually sell stuff on CL, spam aside I've had good luck. But some people low ball so bad even on cheap stuff I've thought "screw it, it's going to a thrift store" several times.

Some of my old electronics, all my old clothes and old furniture all go to thrift stores or just free on CL.
