Heil Ranch trail work this Saturday 10th.

Posse Trail Work - Heil Valley Ranch | Boulder Mountainbike Alliance

Continuing the tradition that started with National Trail Days (NTD) all these many years ago, BMA and Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS) are partnering up to make sure our local singletrack at Heil Ranch is well maintained.

We will be working on an area that has limited visibility and north facing slopes and trying to improve the trail to improve user sight paths and drainage. Shuttles will be provided to the work site or feel free to bring your bike and ride to the work site.

Meet at the Heil Ranch South trailhead off LeftHand Canyon, Geer Canyon at the pavilion at 8:45 AM.

We will run till ~12:00pm with an option to stay longer if there is need and interest.

If you want to attend please be signed up by noon friday.

We rerouted a couple hundred feet of trail just after the first meadow . I believe it will be a few more days before the old tread is reclaimed and the new is switched on. There are at least another 200 feet of trail flagged farther up the hill to be built another day. I believe another work day is scheduled for the 24th of March through BMA. Heil is getting better one segment at a time but there remains tons to do.

How about building some new trails instead. Hikes and horses are just going to fvck them up anyway.

If we don't help take care of the trails on the ground, who's going to want us to help them build new trails?
Take the long cut, we'll get there eventually.

Let the hikers and equestrians take care of the trails for once. Besides, we pay enough money to the parks department that they should provide it as a service anyway.

Thanks to everyone that came out for a very productive work day. There is another Heil work day scheduled for Saturday the 24th.

BMA always has efforts to build new trail in the works. That doesn't mean we don't have to maintain the trails we have, nor does putting resources into one subtract from the resources we have available for the other.
