    Heil Ranch 12/26 report

Trail is in great shape. The wind drove me from Hall over to Heil. Little snow on the trail, even less ice. I was suprised to see so much dry dirt. I looped Ponderosa as well as Wild Turkey (twice). Worst snow was NW corner of Pondera - this was also the windiest, so a mistake on my part, though I did see a number of bucks. I didn't do Picture Rock.

Anyone else hit that glaze ice in Lyons? I almost slid into the stop sign at the Hall Ranch (main) trailhead. What I thought was just some snowmelt was apparently water that was turned to ice by the cold wind. Sketchy..

Thanks for the report. I might have to hit it in the morning.

My ride today was not so exciting--riding paths in the wind. The forecast is for wind this weekend so rideable trails out of the wind are winners.

This was some of the oddities I encountered on my Christmas morning ride yesterday.

    The fortress of solitude.

Whoa, that's a cool photo, and an imaginary title.
