    3 hour Chillstep

I haven't figured out the difference between Ambient and Chillstep but both are soothing to play in the background

Still processing shoots from last year

Today it's Crested Butte Four and some odds and ends from Utah

Then this started coming through my speakers and I closed my eyes and listened

I've been counting down the days and the nights,
Since you last said that you loved me.
And it's cold here in the shadows with no light,
Since you last said that you loved me

A little bit different kind of guitar hero... Steve Albini's approach to making noise has influenced many.

A tune that just popped up into my head today

Backstory: the guy who wrote this lived in a small town where the local teenagers kept dying in auto accidents, he hoped maybe he could get them to focus better on their driving maybe

No, this isn't the first version of this, it was originally recorded back in the early '60s but this is better. I picked the vid on 'Tube with the least amount of ads

I hope you all have been riding today because I've been working...mostly

I did get away to watch the wind gusts come screaming through Hildebrand, the 2' high grass doing strange whirling actions

But, back to work. A mini-microburst just blew through my neighborhood a few minutes ago, looked real bad but only lasted 10 minutes.

This was playing when it happened

I've been listening to Randy Rhoads tributes lately

    by modern day guitarists

(backstory) maybe you don't know who Randy Rhoads was but...he was Ozzy Osbuorne's guitarist for awhile back in the very early '80s. Long story short: he died in a plane crash when he was 26

There are distressingly few live performances on film of his playing

This is "Diary of a Madman" with guitarist Nuno Bettencourt

    funny story about this song...

so, early on the Vulgar Display tour, they came through C-bus and played at The Alrosa Villa - not even aware of what would happen there years later, which is weird to think about. At that show there were maybe, 200 people in a venue that held about 800. They were still touring in a white van with a trailer.

At the end of the set, they al switched instruments, and did some "cover requests", with Phil playing drums, Vinnie singing, and Dime and T Rex switching as well. For about a half hour they got halfway through about 15 metal cover songs. This, in itself, was awesome to have been a part of. Right up against the stage, talking and laughing with them.

Then, they switched back, and took requests to paly some songs that weren't in the set. "Stump the band". My friends I were yelling "The Sleep"....and it was the only song they could not do. Dime kept trying to start it, but couldn't remember the riff. By Demons Be Driven was the other song they could not remember that night.

After the show, we got to hang with them in the back parking lot - I helped Vinnie load his drums into the van, and it was a blast! We were out there till about 4am...

I've been looking for concert footage of Mr. Rice that I thought would showcase him at his best and this is it

    Randy Rhoads live...it's true

There are very few vids of Oz and Randy playing live, I just found this

This is a complete lineup. Ozzy looked genuinely happy to have Randy playing guitar with him but the entire lineup is so solid especially Ozzy's vocals

Not actually toiling because I'm processing pics from my last Utah trip and it's cool seeing those locations again

    TTNG live

Very cool live performance, from the sound mix to the filming of their playing

man...i used to ride to Cut Rate...on an old burned CD playlist with my discman in my backpack

when my band played at CBGB'S back in the early 90's, Tommy Victor was the sound guy. We hung out all night and got pizza at CB's pizza next door. That was a monumental weekend in my musical past.
