Denver police arrest serial thief called 'Bear' on charges of stealing expensive bicycles - The Denver Post

"A man who stole public storm grates in Denver in 2010 is now facing charges of stealing expensive bicycles and selling them on Craigslist.
Richard Goodface, 33, identified himself as "Bear" to bike buyers, Denver police said this afternoon.
He is accused of stealing bicycles in Denver and surrounding cities, sometimes from storage lockers. People who have stored their bicycles for the winter should check on them, police said.
Anyone missing a bike or who might have bought one from Goodface can call Denver police at 720-913-2000."

Glad they caught them, but now we have to figure out how to keep fire hydrants safe...

Storm grates are probably for scrap metal. Street lamps and fire hydrants might not be too much of a stretch.

He'll walk with 5 more years of "community corrections" to add to the 10 previous years of "community corrections." Not to mention he went to jail, in 2011, while on probation from 2010, and still walked with "time served."

He would have been better off running the cyclists over, then stealing their bikes. At least, then he could have used the "I didn't see them. It was an accident" excuse and get off without any charges.
