Buffalo Creek / Pine Valley Ranch

Anyone been to the Pine Valley Ranch trailhead recently. I am thinking of doing some hiking out there this weekend with the family. Wanted to see how much ice was on the trails.

I hiked up Stawberry Jack to Skipper to Buck Gulch. Stawberry Jack and Buck Gulch 95% snow/ice free. Skipper had a a few spots that were completely iced over, mostly be the little stream, but for the most part it would be rideable.

Open areas were good- some mud stretches at the bottom of shingle

Top of shingle- not too bad

I was hiking on Redskin today near the Miller Gulch trailhead and most of the snow is gone. There were only a couple of icy spots on the trail even in the shady spots. I bet most trails with southern aspects are rideable now.

CT between shinglemill and redskin still has a fair amount of mud/snow/ice. Yup, needs more time.

3 hour ride today at Buff Creek. Despite the usual ice on some of the road sections the rest of the trails were 99.9% dry. Great ride. In fact most of the trails were too dry almost like mid-summer conditions.

What happen to all you Luddites who were going to confirm the camping situation?

If weather holds out, I am going to go camping again on Wednesday. This time I will be forced to bring my tent or maybe I'll just stay in the parking lot again. They weren't even collecting, so why not?.

    Yeah, it's good-to-go.

You'll be there with about 75 others, but don't be fooled by the parking lot. Once you get out there the people are spread out pretty good.
