I am posting IMBA's email about the bike park grand opening on June 16th. If you arrive at the park between 10a-2p, you will not be charged the entrance fee. There will also be some new ladder bridge/teeter totters, a new step up line on the advance jumps, and a second beginner line.

On June 16, 2007, 10am 3pm, Lory State Park near Fort Collins will celebrate the grand opening of their brand new mountain bike offering -- the Coral Center Mountain Bike Park. Featured in IMBA’s new book, “Managing Mountain Biking: IMBA’s Guide To Providing Great Riding,” this park facility is intended to provide novice to advanced riders the opportunity to hone their skills on constructed features, a pump track and dirt jump park.

The festival will mark the opening of this new bike park, the first of its kind in Colorado State Parks, by offering activities for all family members. Mountain bikers can take part in bike skills classes, relay races, guided mountain bike rides, geocaching demonstrations, scavenger hunts, product giveaways, bike demos. A professional dirt jumping exhibition will highlight the lunch hour, with food and drink provided. Park entrance fees are waived during this event.

Combined with the expanded trail system open to bikes in Lory State Park and the recent connections to the Blue Sky trail, Horsetooth and Devil’s Backbone Park trail systems, Lory is fast becoming a Front Range mountain biking haven. IMBA is working with Colorado State Parks to develop more and better riding opportunities with consultation and trail planning having already been undertaken at Lake Pueblo, Cheyenne Mountain, Staunton and Lory State Parks. We ask that you support Colorado State Parks by riding -- buy a State Parks Pass, hop on the saddle, and then let the Park Superintendent know how much you’re enjoying the work they’re putting into improving mountain biking opportunities for Colorado residents.
