2/15/2012 night ride in the springs?

Is anyone wanting to ride this week? If so where sounds like fun, or is in riding shape? Thoughts?

I rode Palmer trail on my ride yesterday. High drive was a mess all the way up to the trail. Once on the trail it was great until you cross the bridge then it was snow packed off and on until I reached the top. So basically everything that was southern exposure was nice, anything facing the north was snow or ice.

Why don't we do Red Rocks or try CMSP?

    I did PalmerTrail yesterday too!
Stephanies, to Palmer Sec16 and down to RR.

When did you go? I saw yer tracks! I think I was like the 3rd or 4 guy to ride up Palmer trail yesterday given the tire tracks. Got in like a 2 hour window of sunshine when the fog thinned before dark, popped up above the fog anyways. I swear it was like 40.

I thought Hi Drive was fine. Sec16 was all really really good actually. Like a half inch o snow mixed with the dirt. Love that stuff! Inteman to RR was great, RR was great. Would be fun with the lights.

Man, we must have just missed each other. I was through there abround 2 or so? I rode from my house on the hardtail, and I wasn't sure of the condition of Sec 16, so I did an out and back. Must be why I thought high drive sucked, thought it was going to rattle my fillings out on the way down lol.

It does not matter to me where we ride. Section 16 will get the mal out. Red rocks I will ride the SS. So my vote is someone pick other then me.

Haha, ya just missed eachother. I think I started stephanies round 320 or so. Got down to the RR jumps right at dark.

So it was nice on my little white 'DH' bike. )

That being said...CMSP or RR would be just as sweet!

I should be in. Section 16 sounds like fun. Where were you thinking to meet up? Bottom of High Drive or the Section 16 trailhead?

I vote Rudy's. I don't care if we climb up the road or through Red Rocks, but it would be fun to ride down Red Rocks.

If we are starting out at Rudy's I will try to get there a bit early to get a hump start on the group. The mal is not the best climber so I will need the head start so I don't die trying to keep up.

I had some on the Palmer ride last Thursday. They are better than the cotton pair I used to have but my hands still got cold.

You may need to get a set of wind proof riding gloves like you have now but a size larger. If the gloves are fitting tight with liners now they could be cutting off circulation.

    Cool!
We're meeting at Rudy's BBQ on the corner of Hwy 24 and 31st street. We usually meet on the west side of the parking lot.

Since Short Bus didn't post the time, we meet at 6:00pm (usually ride by 6:10).

Directions (in case your phone doesn't have them):
Exit I-25 at Cimarron and take a left heading west on Hwy 24. Drive about 3 miles to 31st Street which is the fourth stop light. Turn left on 31st Street and you'll see Rudy's on your left--you can't miss it.

I don't ride with anyone who does 'roids....

Seriously though, if you're running late, drive up to the bottom of High Drive. You'll catch us on the climb for sure (juice boy) and then we'll get you back up to your truck after the ride.

Is everyone feeling ok today? Im trying to track down what made me sick at about 1am it started coming out of both ends mostly at the same time and still going strong.....well the dry heaves are.

Was a good ride though for the most part. Anyone have suggestions on new glasses that will stop the cold wind or not fog up super easy when it is cold?

What meat did you eat last night? I had the turkey and hot sausage and feel fine.

I'm tempted to ride with goggles next time it's as cold as it was last night. I'm worried they would fog like crazy though.

The bottom line for riding in the cold is:
If you ain't cryin', you ain't flyin'!

Yeah, that was really fun. These wednesday rides are great!

I had the brisket, reg sausage and part of a plastic fork. And uh...one sausage and one brisket taco this morning. I still feel kinda full even tho that was 2 hours ago

What were the trails and route you took ?

I ride the springs a fair amount but never really know where I am, just following the locals !

So I'd be curious to know and look it up on the map.

    thx !

that ride was sweet!!! section 16 had a lot less snow/ice than I thought it would have. also had a great turnout, props to all the new guys coming out and expanding the entourage!

i've had luck with riding in my goggles, but i bet a cheapo pair would fog up a lot

route was from rudy's parking lot up the road to high drive then up palmer trail to section 16 into red rocks open space and back to rudy's, thanks for tracking it B
