    Yakima Tube Top - Loose?

I'm trying to put my Blur onto a Yakima Double Down 4. Realized after reading threads here and trying that it wasn't going to work, so I picked up one of the Yakima Top Tubes. I've put it on the bke but haven't tried mounting it to the rack yet. But I notice that the telescoping nature of the device doesn't lock. Is it supposed to? I would think that would be key to making it stable. Do the other manufacturers' solutions lock? I think thule and performance both have something like this. I guess the how the clamps close around the neck/seatpost is enough?

Nope, not supposed to lock. As long as the opening arms on each clamp are locked in place it'll be fine, the center bar can't get any shorter or longer than the play around your stem and seatpost allow.
