Yakima Q Tower frustration - suggestions

We're trying to put a Yakima rack on my wifes 2009 Corolla. We've done all the proper measurements listed on Yakima's website for this vehicle.

We are having problems with the Q tower/bar combo not seating tight enough. We have the clamps tightened properly, but when we go to make sure it's tight enough by pushing and pulling on the bars with arm strength the whole thing slides, not loose, but still sliding.

Anyone else run into this problem? Suggestions?

the towers can go up to .25" closer together than the M measurements they give you. Are you using the vinyl stickers? Check all the measurements, make sure you are using the correct Qclips.

thanks for the info about the .25". Is that for both sides or is it .175" per side making the sum of the towers being closer together .25"

Yep, we are using the vinyl stickers, should we not be?

Easy tiger, I wasn't criticising, just asking a simple question and trying to help you out. When you post a reply I get a copy of the original so editing won't let you off the hook. When I say the towers can go up to .25" closer together what don't you get? I never mention moving each tower .25" If you had read the instructions and checked your measurements you wouldn't be having any problems.

    GOOD LUCK.

I actually grounded down the gold colored metal piece that slides up towards the crossbars. It definitely gave me more tightening. Hope it helps.
